Materials Credit
Our Materials Credit Program gives jewelry you no longer wear a new purpose. We are happy to evaluate existing precious metals and, when appropriate, apply their value toward a custom piece, a repair, or anything in our gallery. It’s a meaningful way to make use of materials you already own and put their value toward something you’ll wear and enjoy, whether newly designed, restored, or personally chosen. We keep the valuation clear and straightforward, and a cash option is also available for refined gold.
How does the Materials Credit program work?
Existing precious metal is evaluated and sent for refining when appropriate.
Once refined, its value is based on the market value of the metal on the day it is processed, less the costs associated with inspection, labor, and refining.
The resulting amount is issued as store credit with Rebecca Myers Collection. For refined gold, you may choose a cash payment instead, subject to an additional service fee as outlined below.
What can I use the credit toward?
Materials Credit can be applied toward custom design work, repairs, or any piece in the gallery.
Can I receive cash instead?
Yes. For refined gold, you may choose a cash payment instead of Materials Credit.
Inspection, labor, refining, and other applicable processing expenses are deducted first. An additional 20% service fee is then deducted from the remaining amount before payment. This additional service fee applies only to the cash option.
Can stones or other parts of my jewelry be reused?
Stones, findings, and other components will be evaluated individually to determine whether they can be safely and appropriately incorporated into a new piece.
Any materials that are not used will be returned to you whenever possible.
What happens to my jewelry during the refining process?
Using existing metal often requires the original piece to be taken apart, unset, or otherwise prepared for refining.
We handle that process carefully, but older jewelry and previously set stones can sometimes have hidden wear or structural vulnerabilities that are not visible beforehand.
How is the value of my metal determined?
The value is based on the weight and purity of the refined metal and its market value on the day it is processed.
Because precious-metal prices fluctuate, the final amount cannot be determined until refining is complete. Inspection, labor, and refinery costs are deducted from the refined value before store credit is issued. If you choose cash for refined gold, the additional 20% service fee is then deducted from the remaining amount.
When will I know the final amount?
Once the metal has been refined and the final value is available, we’ll confirm the amount after applicable deductions before your Materials Credit is applied to a purchase, repair, or commission, or your cash payment is issued.
